Greenbush Presbyterian Church would be delighted to welcome you and perhaps become your church home!
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN: Join us in the “cabin fever” months for Sunday School. Slip in with your child(ren) during morning worship. Eight very young children are attending; we are learning about prayer and responding to the crisis in Haiti. Parents are discussion a spring field trip to the disaster relief center of Church World Service. An older elementary group should be starting classes in March. Most of our Spring program is “Learning About Jesus.”
ADULT EDUCATION: A program for church school parents and all interested adults is offered during church school—song, prayer, and a Biblical or current topic to explore. Join us at 11:25 in the rear building.
YOUTH PROGRAM:
Interchurch Youth, comprised of members of Greenbush & Nauraushaun Presbyterian Churches and of Piermont and Tappan Reformed Churches (and their friends), meet at two times and locations:
- Middle School Youth (6th-8th grades) at Piermont Reformed Church, 5-6:30 Sundays, dinner included.
- High School Youth (9th-12th grades) at Tappan Reformed Church, dinner included.
Youth wishing to try out the program please speak to Bruce Page, (914) 262-5396.
Discussion is under way for a Brazil Amazon youth mission trip in
February, 2011!
TRY ONE OF OUR ALTERNATIVE SERVICES:
- Younger parents welcome all other adults to the LEARNING, PRAYER, AND SONG Session that follows Sunday traditional worship. Starting at 11:20 am, it finishes with a song shared with the Church School around 12:15 (Church School for YOUNG CHILDREN runs from 11:30, after refreshments and play provided at 11:20 am, until 12:20 pm.
- FAITH FAMILY DEVOTIONS welcome everyone 4th grade and older (most of us are pushing Middle Age from one side or the other) on Thursdays from 6:45 to 7:30. We share our concerns, learn a little together, sing and pray; those who attend may request other activities!
Please note new times and programs in the last paragraph and on the calendar!
We are located in Blauvelt (Rockland County, NY, two miles south of the Palisades Mall) on Western Highway (which runs parallel to the west of Route 303 from Route 59 to New Jersey) not far north of the intersection with Erie Street. While founded by Dutch Protestants, we welcome Rocklanders of all backgrounds. We are always seeking ways to work with neighboring congregations (Thanksgiving with St. Catharine's R.C. Church, Good Friday with 8 Protestant churches, Youth Group with another Presbyterian and two Reformed congregations (see prior paragraph & calendar), a recent Fall Festival with the Tappan Reformed Church). We are exploring interfaith opportunities. All are welcome at any Greenbush event.
The church has a lovely pipe organ and carillon (you can hear seasonal hymns at noon and six pm each day); the facility has great flexibility - seating can be easily shifted; community groups are welcome to share the space. A Korean congregation (Woon Gwang Church) and nationally certified preschool/day care program (Palisades Schoolhouse) partner with us year-round. We are proud to share our space with boy and girl scouting, cultural and community service groups, Alcoholics Anonymous, and those who attend our well-known chicken barbecue, soup suppers, Penny Social, and garage/rummage sales.
Join us one Sunday at 10:15 am (one-hour worship) or 11:25 (adult learning and worship) in the church sanctuary. Also try our Thursday Evening Faith Family Devotions, 6:45-7:30 pm. We intend to show you welcome, loving-kindness, lively faith, and opportunities to learn, serve, and grow together.
